Stephenie Overman

Stephenie Overman is a full-time freelance writer who specializes in workplace and health care issues, with extensive experience covering the business of managing people. She has written about Europe’s aging workforce, mentoring across borders, outsourcing, compensation and health care plans for expatriates and recruiting in Iraq, Eastern Europe and China.

Overman is a frequent contributor to and HR Magazine, and a past editor of Staffing Management magazine, an award-winning quarterly for recruiters and staffing professionals. She is also a past editor of Executive Talent and served as editor of Human Resource Management News. She is a former senior writer for HR Magazine and HR News.

She has also written for the Gannett News Service, Employee Relations Weekly, and Your Money Report. Other venues where her work has appeared include The Los Angeles Business Journal, Consulting Magazine, Corporate University Review, Executive Female, Executive Talent and Independent Business.

She is an active member of the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ). She is past president of the Washington, D.C, and New Jersey chapters of the SPJ. She was also secretary of the Los Angeles chapter. She served as COO of the 2004 national SPJ convention in New York and co-chair of the 1996 Washington national convention. She received a Howard S. Dubin Outstanding Pro Chapter Member Award.

Overman earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and Political Science from Ball State University and a Master of Arts degree in Labor Studies from the University of the District of Columbia.
